Juan Jacinto Muñoz Rengel

Juan Jacinto Muñoz Rengel (Málaga, Spain, 1974) is the author of two highly acclaimed novels: The Other’s Dream (El sueño del otro, Plaza y Janés, 2013) and The Hypochondriac Hitman (El asesino hipocondríaco, Plaza y Janés, 2012). He was named one of the most promising Spanish writers of his generation and his work has appeared in various anthologies including Cuento español actual (Editoral Cátedra, 2014), Pequeñas resistencias. Antología del nuevo cuento español (Páginas de Espuma, 2010) and Siglo XXI. Los nuevos nombres del cuento español (Menuscuarto, 2010).

He has received more than fifty national and international literary awards for his short stories and his works have been published in a dozen countries including France, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.

Juan Jacinto Muñoz Rengel is also a frequent contributor to the Spanish newspaper El País and staff member of Spanish National Radio. In addition, he teaches creative writing at Escuela de Escritura Creativa Fuentetaja in Madrid.

 

The Hypochondriac Hitman was warmly received by both the public and critics. It is currently in its seventh edition in Spain and has been published in France and Italy.
