Álvaro de la Rica (Madrid, Spain, 1965) is a Professor of World Literature at the University of Navarre and the author of both fiction and non-fiction. He stunned the literary world with his most recent and critically acclaimed novel Don’t Leave Me be Behind (No te vayas sin mí, Ediciones Alfabia, 2014). The book is a gripping cosmopolitan love story told in different voices. Don’t Leave Me Behind includes his first novella The Third Person (La tercera persona, Ediciones Alfabia, 2012) which he rewrote to be fully incorporated in this final version.
His essay about Kafka, Seven Meditations on Kafka (Kafka y el holocausto, Trotta Editorial, 2009) received rave reviews and the French translation was published in Fall 2014 by the renowned publishing house, Gallimard. Other works by de la Rica include A homage to José Jíménez Lozano (Homenaje a José Jiménez Lozano), Studies on Claudio Magris (Estudios sobre Claudio Magris) and Julien Green: in the depths of the woods (Julien Green, en lo más profundo del bosque).
Álvaro de la Rica is also a respected literary critic whose work has appeared in many newspapers including ABC, El Mundo, La Razón and La Vanguardia.
